My Story

As a very close family our lives were rocked when Jim was diagnosed with bladder cancer in October 2018. Prior to his diagnosis we had never heard of the disease, but Jim is under the care of the fantastic team at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton and is doing really well.

Bladder Cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the western world, it's the most expensive for the NHS to treat and Fight Bladder Cancer support those affected, raise awareness of the disease, help to support research into new treatments and campaign for better policies.

So since Jim's diagnosis we have organised a number of events to raise money for the national charity Fight Bladder Cancer, whilst also raising vital awareness of the disease itself. This page shows details of the events that we've held so far and we are so grateful to the members of our family, our friends and the community for supporting our efforts, thank you for helping us make a difference.

Massive thanks go to Tom & Julie Fawcett who have donated £336.27 as the proceeds from their tractor run on 31st August to our fundraising for Fight Bladder Cancer, we really do appreciate your support x

In September we learned that family friend, Fred Scarr, had chosen Fight Bladder Cancer, as the charity for the Yorkshire Dales Tour 2020 and we were blown away to receive £1100 to forward to the charity. We are so touched by the support we have received from our friends across the Dales!

HUGE thanks also go to Chicane Media who took the amazing photos on the day!

We are thrilled that Jenny and Sharon Guy from Wensleydale Wicks are supporting our fundraising efforts by donating a percentage of the proceeds from their FBC range of candles and melts - you can find the range of their products here

Our latest event: Friday 7th February 2020 - Ladies Shopping Evening - The Fountain Hotel, Hawes and we raised £230!

Our final event for 2019, was the Christmas Charity Concert hosted by the Hawes Silver Band and the Aysgarth Singers a tremendous £1251 was raised for Fight Bladder Cancer!!

We were thrilled to have raised £360 from the sale of Christmas Trees grown at Pippy Oak - thank you to everyone who donated to FBC when selecting their tree!

Our Christmas Table Top sale in December was another great success and added an additional £490 to our total - thank you for everyone's support!

Massive thanks go to Alison Coates who hosted a Christmas Fayre in December at the The Moorcock Inn, Garsdale Head raising a brilliant £230!

Our first Table Top Sale in Hawes at the end of July 2019 raised a staggering £1,341.83!
