My Story

We lost my Dad, David, to bladder cancer in July of last year. He'd been diagnosed 10 years prior, but thanks to the fantastic care and support he received via the NHS, he had lived for another decade.

Some 21,185 people are diagnosed with bladder cancer each year in the UK. Fight Bladder Cancer UK officially became registered as an unincorporated charity on July 8, 2014, starting as a local support group, before it became clear the lack of available support for patients and their families was a national problem, and needed to be tackled on a much wider scale.

Dad was 87 when he passed away, and I wanted to do something special—to honour his memory and raise funds for an important cause. I decided on a 90KM run (a kilometre for every year he lived...plus a few for fun), from Marlow to Lloyd's of London in the City. Dad was a keen sports fan, and I'm sure he's looking down with a smile on his face. Keep smiling, Dad!

Any support—either through a donation or by running with me on September 14—is appreciated. You can link to the event here and register to run sections alongside me:
