A dedicated research fund for bladder cancer set up in memory of Clive McGhie
Clive McGhie was a happy, funny, kind, dignified man. A loving husband to Tricia, wonderful Dad to Hazel and Scott and friend to many.
Very sadly, in August 2013, Clive was diagnosed with bladder cancer and bravely powered his way through every treatment that came his way. Focusing on maintaining a positive attitude, he received four different chemotherapy drugs, had radiotherapy treatment and underwent radical cystectomy surgery to remove his bladder. Despite keeping him with his family for almost three years, these treatments ultimately could not beat this horrendous disease and Clive passed away on 1st July 2016.
Bladder cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK, but only 1% of the Cancer Research budget in the UK goes towards researching preventions and cures. For this reason, Clive's family have decided to fundraise for Fight Bladder Cancer with a dedicated fund for research into treatment and cures so that less people will have to fight the way Clive did.
